Anapa International Airport (Vityazevo) is an international federal-level airport located in the Anapa resort city (Krasnodar Territory).

It is located 5 km north-east of the Anapa railroad station, 4 km east of Vityazevo village, 15 km north-west of Anapa city.

Construction of Vityazevo airport started in 1969 and was completed in 1976. Prior to construction completion, the first scheduled flight serviced by An-24B landed on 15 April 1974, and the day is considered the birthday of the new Anapa (Vityazevo) airport.

The airport services Anapa resort city, as well as the cities of Novorossiysk and Temryuk with a total permanent population in excess of 400,000 people. At the same time, it is the airport that services the largest children’s health resort in the south of Russia, with tourist traffic of around 3 million people a year.

In 2004, Anapa International Airport won the ‘Russian National Olympus’ national award for outstanding contribution to the historical development of Russia in the ‘Outstanding small and medium businesses’ category. In 2008, the airport won the ‘Kuban Economic Leader 2007 – Territorial Contest Winner’ award presented by the Krasnodar Territory Governor, Alexander Tkachev, in the ‘Aviation Transport’ industry category. And in the same year, the airport won ‘Kuban Transport Olympus’ award bestowed on Kuban Transport Complex businesses in the ‘For rapid development momentum and flight safety’ category. 

According to the results of 2015 performance, Anapa International Airport for the second time received the Second National 'Air Gateway of Russia' awadr in ' The best regional airport with a passenger traffic of up to 2 MPPA' nomination thus having confirmed its award received a year earlier.

History

2015

Each year Anapa International Airport increases the number of handled passengers. In 2015 the airport passenger traffic amounted to 1.1 million pax (+17 against 2014).

In November 2015 Anapa International Airport obtained a seal of approval issued by the General Board of State Expert Review of Russia in respect of construction project of new terminal with 600 pax/hour capacity and 11 800 sq. m. total area.

In early December 2015 Anapa International Airport obtained construction permit from the Federal Air Transport Agency related to construction of new terminal and completed the selection of contractors to perform construction operations. The investments being attracted by Basel Aero will amount to 1.4 billion rubles. The launch of a new airport terminal is scheduled for late 2016.

2014

In 2014, Anapa International Airport celebrated its 40th anniversary. During the anniversary year, Anapa airport serviced more than one million passengers. The passenger traffic growth was 37% vs. 2013. The International Airport handles more than 32 airlines operating flights to 45 destinations, and 21 aircraft movements per hour.

2013

Presently, the airport services Anapa resort city as well as the cities of Novorossiysk and Temryuk. The airport is used by24 air carriers flying to 47 destinations.

2012

Operation of a new apron commenced. In 2012, the airport handled 587,100 passengers.

2011

S7 Boeing 737-400 (VP-BAN) flying from Domodedovo became the first scheduled flight after runway reconstruction. It carried 125 passengers.

2010

In accordance with the Federal Targeted Programs “Development of the Transportation System of Russia (2010-2015)” and “Modernization of the Transportation System of Russia (2002-2010)”, the “Reconstruction of Anapa (Vityazevo) airport aerodrome” program was approved. The reconstruction was carried out in five stages within 2010-2012

2008

First scheduled flight of an Airbus (VP-BHI) of the S7 air carrier. In the same year, the airport won the ‘Kuban Economic Leader 2007 – Territorial Contest Winner’ award presented by the Krasnodar Territory Governor, A.N. Tkachev, in the ‘Aviation Transport’ industry category. And in the same year, the airport won the ‘Kuban Transport Olympus’ award bestowed on Kuban Transport Complex businesses ‘For rapid development momentum and flight safety’.

2006

First scheduled flight of a Boeing (VP-BTD) of the S7 air carrier.

2005

The SABRE, SITA, and Kupol passenger handling systems were put into operation, which enable passenger check-in to any destination in the world, as well as handling passengers using electronic tickets.

2004

OJSC Anapa Airport won the ‘Russian National Olympus’ award for outstanding contribution to the historical development of Russia in the ‘Outstanding small and medium businesses’ category.

1993

Vityazevo airport acquired the status of an international airport. Austrian Airlines became the first international airline to open a branch office in Anapa.

1991

6,828 ATMs, 439,600 passengers departed. In the summer season, the airport handles up to 52 flights. The airport operates at full capacity.

1988

Anapa airport is separated from 1st Krasnodar United Air Group and becomes an independent entity: a separate class-III airport under the North Caucasian Civil Aviation Authority. Upon installation of the SP-80M landing system, the aerodrome acquired an ICAO category I certificate.

1977

Тu-154 aircraft flight inaugurated, which became the principal aircraft type in the fleet of Russian air carriers. A Тu-154 (USSR-85171) snapshot made against the Anapa airport passenger terminal background was reproduced on a Soviet postcard.

1976

Official inauguration of Vityazevo airport. The new terminal managed to handle up to 70 daily flights originating from around 50 domestic airports.
